Notice on the recruitment of postdoctoral researchers for KUST in 2020

I. About KUST

KUST, founded in 1954, has developed into a comprehensive university with a schooling mode that is based on engineering and combines science and engineering. It boasts unique industry-specific and region-specific advantages and a well-balanced set of disciplines, including economy, management, philosophy, law, literature, art, medicine, agronomy and education. As the largest university in Yunnan Province, KUST provides a full package of teaching and learning options and plays an important role in China's non-ferrous metal industry and regional economic and social development. The university is under the joint leadership by the State Administration of Science, Technology, and Industry for National Defence and the Yunnan Provincial People's Government. When General Secretary Xi Jinping visited Yunnan in early 2015, he praised KUST as a "national famous university". Since 2015, its engineering, materials science and chemistry disciplines have successively entered the top 1% of ESI global ranking.

The postdoctoral program of KUST originated in 1998. There are 11 postdoctoral research centers covering 9 faculties: Mining Engineering, Geological Resources and Geological Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanics, Environmental Science And Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Management Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics, and Biology.

II. Job requirements

(1) Keeping firmly to the correct political and academic orientation, without illegal or criminal record.

(2) A doctor's degree, excellent in quality and education, in good health, aged 35 years or younger, and generally graduated for no more than 3 years.

(3) Meeting the requirements for postdoctoral recruitment and can work full time on postdoctoral research at the center.

(4) The research direction is similar to or consistent with the needs of departments and cooperative tutors, and the academic level meets the requirements for postdoctoral recruitment.

III. Recruitment plan

In 2020, KUST plans to recruit 120 fresh or unemployed doctoral graduates at home and abroad to work full time as postdoctoral researchers. Postdoctoral researchers are encouraged to base themselves on their majors and engage in interdisciplinary innovative research. IV. Compensation

(1) Post-doctors will be paid various fees totaling over 200,000 yuan, as follows:

1. While working at the center, the postdoctoral researchers are entitled for the performance-based salary for associate professors, which will generally last for 24 months and no more than 36 months.

2. 1000 yuan of rental subsidy will be provided per month/person, which will last for no more than 24 months.

3. 40,000 yuan of academic activity fee will be paid at one time.

4. Postdoctoral researchers should undergo mid-term and completion assessments on time. Those rated as qualified or excellent will be paid an incentive performance salary of 24,000 yuan; those who fail to take part in the examination, fail to take part in the examination on schedule and fail to pass the examination will not be paid such salary.

5. Social insurance and housing accumulation fund will be paid for postdoctoral researchers according to the applicable provisions of the state and Yunnan Province.

(2) The university will help their spouse and children settle down in Kunming and help with the admission of their children into kindergarten and schools and other life problems according to the applicable provisions of the state and the university; while providing school apartment housing rental, and the same benefits as the staff as stipulated.

(3) The university will actively recommend postdoctoral researchers to apply for national and Yunnan postdoctoral funds and training programs. Postdoctoral researchers can receive a research funding of 50,000-180,000 yuan for projects supported by the China Post-doctoral Science Foundation and special grants; 160,000 yuan (two years) for Yunnan Province postdoctoral orientation training programs; 20,000-100,000 yuan for Yunnan postdoctoral research projects; 10,000-50,000 yuan for Yunnan Province postdoctoral outstanding achievement awards.

(4) Postdoctoral researchers who have made outstanding research results and passed the completion examination will be enrolled as teachers in KUST.
